The Different Resorts in Tenerife
Villa holidays are great for those who like their independence, and for those who like some privacy with facilities such as their own swimming pool.
Often you don’t need a car, and this option is included when you do a search, and this is favoured by those who don’t feel comfortable when it comes to driving abroad.
If you do want to hire a car and explore this can be done locally, or at the time of booking. Also there are numerous independent companies available on the internet.
Calla Salvaje is a popular area on the island for those considering Tenerife villa holidays.
Located in the southern part of the island, there are hotels as well as villas here, but it’s a village that is more suited to those who like the independence and relaxed way of life of villa holidays in Tenerife.
There’s a good number of restaurants in the resort, along with supermarkets and other amenities.
It’s quiet, relaxing, but at the same time if you do want the buzz of Los Cristianos for example it’s not far away by local taxi. Also close to Playa de las Americas.
But most people stay in Calla Salvaje because it’s not like some of the other areas available on the island – peaceful, relaxing and quiet are the words best describing the town, and often that’s exactly what people want.
Another plus point is that often the villas are close enough to all the amenities so not to worry about hiring car – but do double check with the owners or company first that this is the case if you see one you particularly like the look of.
The Alternative
What about renting in the north?
The most popular area is Icod de los Vinos, a historic traditional village, and it’s where you are most likely to find fincas and traditional houses rather than purpose built for those who would like a character home for their villa holidays in Tenerife.
There are two airports on the island, so check which one is closest when you book your flights, and if you’re booking with a company rather than with private owners you will have the option of booking your flights, along with car hire if wanted, at the same time as your Tenerife villa holidays.
Online makes everything easier, with multiple photographs available to view, and often there are reviews from people who have stayed there before, so do check out the reviews before you book, along with other information such as how far it is to the closest village, beaches, shops and restaurants.
The good thing about the island is that there’s a lot of accommodation options, and whether you want somewhere that’s lively, or prefer a quiet location, there’s almost certainly going to be something that will be appropriate for what you would ideally like from your trip.
